DIY vintage prints wall art & Fancy Pants giveaway

Today’s project actually came about because I fell in love with a scrapbook paper&elements line called Park Bench from Fancy Pants Designs. I loved the colors and patterns and knew they’d look perfect in my somewhat revamped downstairs. I thought of just framing a selection of papers on the wall, but that seemed a bit boring, so I spent a few months trying to come up with something a little more interested. I finally decided to use my favorite papers as photo mats for some simple black and white vintage illustrations. The project was easy to put together and gives some personality to the blank space above my IKEA shelves. Keep reading for more info on the project and a chance to win the full Park Bench collection!

I used thrifted document frames (50 cents each) that measure 8.5×11 and cut the scrapbook papers down to size. Then I chose b&w prints that coordinate with my interests – sewing, photography, writing, typography, eating, playing the piano, and telling people what to do 😉 I don’t actually bike, but my husband does, and the vintage bicycle was way too cute to pass up. I found all these illustrations at The Graphics Fairy, then used Photoshop Elements to resize them. I printed out each graphic on white cardstock, trimmed it to 5×7, then used glue dots to adhere them to the scrapbook paper.

Then it was simply a matter of hammering nails into 347 different spots in my wall to get the collage lined up just right 🙂

It’s a great way to showcase these papers, right? Here’s what the entire Park Bench collection looks like:

(I used a few more papers from the collection to pretty-up some plain office organizers here.)

Fancy Pants is going to send one of you the entire kit! Just use the widget below to enter (this giveaway is restricted to US residents only). Be sure to check out their other amazing collections on their site, visit their blog, or like them on Facebook for an extra entry below.
