Do you ever get on the internet and get jealous that there are so many people out there who are so much smarter, more creative, or just plain awesomer than you? No, of course not. Me either. I wouldn’t be jealous about something like that. Just happy for other people and their fantabulous talents. Not jealous. Or bitter. Because I don’t waste my time being jealous of people on the internet.
But if I did, I’d totally be jealous of Amy Robison, who came up with these adorable little Halloween character treat boxes. I have such a hard time coming up with cute holiday ideas, and these little guys are just perfect! Simple. Adorable. Cool enough that even my 12-year-old boys think they’re awesome!
I cut these guys out on my Silhouette (find designs for 8 Halloween boxes in the Silhouette Design Store), but I don’t think they’d be that hard to duplicate even without a cutting machine – especially the ghost and pumpkin. They follow the basic design of a little sour cream container.
FYI: this post isn’t sponsored by Silhouette – I just saw these designs and thought they were too cute not to share.
Look how easy they are to put together:
1 – Cut the design on the Silhouette. Place face side down. Fold up the flap on the right. 2 – Glue on any accessories, and cover the eyes/mouth with black paper from the backside. 3 – Add strong double sided adhesive on the areas shown by dots. 4 – Roll into tube shape and secure the flap to the other side. 5 – Pinch the bottom closed. 6 – Fill container with treats, then pinch the top close.
A few notes:
- If you’re using heavy cardstock, make sure you have a pretty strong double sided adhesive – a gluestick won’t cut it. If you use something thinner, like construction paper, a gluestick will probably be just fine.
- If you fill the treat boxes with something like goldfish, be sure to put them in a small plastic bag or wax paper first so they don’t leave oil spots on the paper box. Candies or other non-oily items should be just fine.
- These guys are adorable, but they do take a few minutes each to assemble. If you want to make enough for a classroom of kids, you might want to go with the ghost or the bat so you only have to cut things out of one color.
