Prep Time45 minutes

Ingredients

  • Wire Wreath Form I used a 12 inch form
  • 1 ball Red Loop Yarn
  • 1 ball White Loop Yarn
  • 1 ball Blue Loop Yarn
  • Wood Stars painted white if desired
  • Hot Glue
  • floral wire optional

Instructions

  • Clip open the first loop on the blue loop yarn to create a tail. Tie the tail around the inside wire of the wreath form.

  • Wrap the loop yarn around the wreath form, placing the entire ball of yarn through the middle of the wreath each time you wrap. Keep wrapping the blue yarn around the wreath form, keeping each loop tight against the one before it, until you have covered one quarter of the wreath form.
  • Cut the blue loop yarn, leaving a short tail, and tie it off on the back of the wreath form. Cut a tail on the red loop yarn and tie it to the wreath form right next to where the blue yarn ends.

  • Wrap the red yarn around the wreath form about 8-9 times, until it covers 1/12 of the form, to make a "stripe". You can think of your wreath like a clock: blue should cover from 12-4, then the first red stripe covers 4-5. DO NOT CUT THE RED YARN. Tie on the white yarn right next to the red yarn that you've wrapped.

  • Start wrapping white yarn, wrapping about 8-9 times, until you've covered 1/12 of the form (to 6 on the "clock"). Then bring the red yarn behind the white yarn and start wrapping it to create another stripe. Continue alternating red and white stripes, until you are back to where the blue yarn begins. You will make 5 red stripes and 4 white stripes. Tie off both the white and red yarn.

  • Flip the wreath over. Push any loops that stick out toward the back through the wreath frame to the front. From the front, gently pull all the loops up away from the wreath form. This will make the front of the wreath full and fluffy.

  • Attach the wood stars to the blue area of the wreath. You can hot glue the stars directly to the wreath. Or you can hot glue floral wire to the back of each star, then use the wire to secure it to the wreath (which will allow you to reposition or swap embellishments if desired).

  • Loop twine or ribbon through the wreath form to hang if desired.
