Whole Wheat Artisan Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Hard White Wheat Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 & 3/4 cups Warm Water

Instructions

  • In a bowl, stir the flour, salt, yeast, and brown sugar until combined.
  • Add water and stir again until combined.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and set at room temperature for anywhere between 8 and 24 hours.
  • 90 minutes before you'd like to serve the bread, turn the dough out onto a well floured surface and pull up edges to form a ball. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • In the meantime, place an oven safe baking dish with high sides in the oven and preheat to 450. 
  • At the end of 30 minutes, remove baking dish from the oven and lightly grease with nonstick spray.
  • Slash an "X" on top of bread, carefully pick up and drop into baking dish.
  • Cover with lid or foil and bake for 35 minutes; uncover and bake 5-10 minutes more until quite golden brown.
  • Cool at least 15 minutes before slicing.
