Easter Bunny Wreath

Use loop yarn and dollar store wreath forms to make an adorable Easter bunny wreath.
Prep Time45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 9 inch wreath form
  • 12 inch wreath form
  • Loop Yarn 2 large balls or 3 small balls
  • Wired Burlap Ribbon 2.5 inches wide
  • Pipe Cleaners that match the ribbon
  • Faux Flowers
  • Hot Glue Gun

Instructions

  • Tie the end of the loop yarn around one of the wreath forms. Wrap the yarn around the wreath form, putting the ball of yarn through the middle of the wreath each time you wrap. Continue wrapping until the entire wreath form is covered. Clip and tie off yarn.

  • Wrap the second wreath form the same way. Then place the two wreaths together to make a figure eight and use additional yarn to securely tie them together.

  • Cut 4 pieces of burlap ribbon at 25 inches long. Lay one piece of ribbon on a flat surface. Lay out 8 pipe cleaners on that ribbon, 4 on each side, as shown in the photo below. Use a hot glue gun to lightly adhere the pipe cleaners to the ribbon they are laying on. Repeat this with a second ribbon.

  • Glue the remaining ribbon pieces on top of the ones with pipe cleaners, sandwiching the pipe cleaners inside. This will make the ribbon stable enough to shape into an ear.

  • Fold each ribbon as shown below to create an ear shape. Place the ears on top of your wreath and decide if you'd like to trim the ears at all (I cut about an inch off each of my ears).

  • Decide which side of your wreath you'd like to be the front, and place that face down. Figure out where you'd like the ears to be placed at the top, and move the yarn out of the way. Add a LOT of hot glue where you want the first ear to attach. Try to get some of the glue touching the wreath frame, not just the yarn.

  • Place one end of an ear down on the hot glue and press until the glue cools and the ear is adhered.

  • Then place another strip of hot glue over the end of the ear that's been attached and lay the other end over it.

  • Attach the other ear the same way. You will want to use plenty of glue. If desired, cut a small rectangle of cardboard and glue it over the ears in back to help stabilize them.

  • Add faux flowers along the neckline if desired. You can use wire or hot glue to attach them.

Notes

To hang this wreath, you need to make sure you have a hook that's deep enough for the entire wreath form to fit inside of it. If you use a shallow hook that only catches the ears, they will likely end up pulling off. Most standard over the door wreath hangers will work just fine.
