Instructions

  • To make eyebrows, separate a few Oreo cookies and scrape off the filling. Gently saw across the edge of the cookie to cut off a slice from either side. Cut each slice in half to make a set of eyebrows.

  • Place a small handful of candy melts in a plastic sandwich bag and melt in the microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Snip a *tiny* bit off one corner of the bag off to make a hole you can pipe the melted candy from.

  • Use the melted candy to attach a two white candy melts on the front of each Oreo for eyes.
Using melted candy to "glue" eyes to Oreo.
  • Use the melted candy to attach an M&M to each eye for a pupil, and half an M&M below the eyes for a beak.
Adding M&Ms to the owl for nose and pupils.
  • Finally, use melted candy to attach the Oreo pieces above the eyes for eyebrows (wing tufts).

  • Allow the cookies to set up for 10-15 minutes before moving.

Notes

I used brown M&Ms for the eyes and orange M&Ms for the beaks. If you do this, you'll be able to make about 15 Oreo owls using one 10 oz package of M&Ms. However, if you'd like to make more owls you can use yellow M&Ms for some of the beaks and green and blue M&Ms for some of the eyes.
