Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make Oreo owl treats:
- Oreo Cookies
- White Candy Melts: You’ll find these in the candy or cake decorating section of any large grocery store.
- M&Ms: I used brown M&Ms for the eyes and orange M&Ms for the beaks, but you could also use yellow M&Ms for beaks and green and blue candies for the eyes. If you want to only use brown and orange M&Ms, you’ll be able to make about 15 owls using one 10 oz Sharing Size bag of M&Ms.

How to Make Owl Oreos
Cut Eyebrows
You’ll start by separating some of the Oreos and scraping out the frosting. Lay one Oreo half on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to slice a piece off as shown below. It works best to saw the knife back and forth quickly. You’ll be able to cut two slices off each Oreo half. Then use a quick chop to cut the slice in half to create a set of eyebrows. Some of the Oreos will break while you do this – kids will love eating the broken pieces! Fun fact: owls don’t actually have eyebrows, but they do have wing tufts that stick up above their eyes and look kind of like eyebrows.

Melt the White Candy Wafers
Place a small handful of white candy melts into a ziplock sandwich bag. Microwave for thirty seconds, then knead the bag. Microwave another 15-30 seconds until the candy is completely melted. You’ll use the melted candy to “glue” the various pieces onto the Oreo. Snip off ***just a little bit*** of one corner of the bag to make a tiny hole you can pipe the candy out of. (To repeat, make a tiny hole here! You can always make it bigger but you can’t make it smaller.)

Assemble the Owls
Now it’s time to put the owls together! Start by piping melted candy onto the front (curved side) of a candy melt, and place it halfway down the Oreo on one side. Repeat with another candy melt to create a set of eyes. You want to use enough melted candy to make sure the eyes stick securely to the Oreo, but not so much that excess candy oozes out the sides.

Instructions
- To make eyebrows, separate a few Oreo cookies and scrape off the filling. Gently saw across the edge of the cookie to cut off a slice from either side. Cut each slice in half to make a set of eyebrows.

- Chop orange M&Ms in half to use as beaks.

- Place a small handful of candy melts in a plastic sandwich bag and melt in the microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Snip a *tiny* bit off one corner of the bag off to make a hole you can pipe the melted candy from.

- Use the melted candy to attach a two white candy melts on the front of each Oreo for eyes.

- Use the melted candy to attach an M&M to each eye for a pupil, and half an M&M below the eyes for a beak.

- Finally, use melted candy to attach the Oreo pieces above the eyes for eyebrows (wing tufts).

- Allow the cookies to set up for 10-15 minutes before moving.
