How to Make a Rolo Candy Pencil
These adorable candy pencils are easy to make in under 15 minutes! Your kids will have fun helping you put them together. They’d be fun to make at a back to school gathering, plus they make a really cute first day of school gift for your child’s teacher. You could even make these candy pencils for all the teachers during teacher appreciation week.

Supplies
Here’s what you need to make Rolo pencils:
- Golden Yellow cardstock: you can make six pencils with one sheet of 12×12 inch cardstock, or 4 pencils with one sheet of 8.5×11 inch cardstock.
- Pink cardstock
- Aluminum Foil
- Package of Rolos
- A Hershey’s kiss (you could also use Hershey Hugs)
You will also need adhesive like a tape runner, double sided tape, or a glue stick to glue the cardstock together PLUS a hot glue gun or glue dots to assemble the pencil.

Create the Wrapper
To make a Rolo candy pencil, you’ll first create a wrapper using cardstock and foil. Start by cutting the following pieces of paper with a paper trimmer or scissors:
- 4 x 4.75 inch piece of golden yellow cardstock
- 4 x 2 inch piece of foil
- 4 x 1 inch piece of pink cardstock
- 1×1 inch circle of pink cardstock – if you don’t have a circle punch, you can trace a quarter and cut around it to get a one inch circle.

Set the yellow paper rectangle on the table in front of you so it’s a little taller than it is wide. Use an adhesive like a tape runner, double sided tape, or a glue stick to adhere the thick pink strip across the bottom of the yellow rectangle, letting the right side of the pink strip overhang the yellow rectangle just a bit. Once that is secure, adhere the foil strip over the top half of the pink strip. This completes the wrapper that will turn the Rolo into a pencil. (Adhering the pink and foil so that they go past the yellow rectangle a bit is optional; it ensures there is no gap in coverage once the wrapper gets rolled around the Rolo candy.)

Glue the Rolo Pencil Together
Next, flip the wrapper over so the pink and foil strips are facing down. Rotate the wrapper so the pink and foil strips are on the left side (where you can see two fingers in the photo below). Place just a little hot glue on the bottom edge of the wrapper. An adult should handle the steps involving hot glue.
