In today’s post: Want to make saving for next Christmas easy? Use one of these Christmas Savings Challenge printables. Just choose the amount you’d like to save throughout the year, print out the chart, and add the weekly amount to an envelope. You’ll have your entire Christmas budget saved and ready to spend by Black Friday! Print the charts from the blue box at the end of the post.
Buying Christmas gifts is one of my favorite parts of the holidays, but finding the budget for all the things you’d like to give can be stressful and lead to credit card debt. Planning ahead for your holiday expenses is the best way to eliminate this worry and ensures you won’t have to charge gifts on your credit card.
Save All Year For Stress Free Gifting
With a little advance planning, you can ensure you have plenty of money saved for the holiday season by the week of Thanksgiving! Using a money savings challenge turns a small weekly amount (like $20!) into a thousand dollars that you can use for gifts, food, get togethers, or whatever makes your Christmas special. The Christmas Savings plan I’m sharing today will make it easy to save up all year long. Here’s how it works:
Choose the Amount You Want to Save
Decide how much you’d like to save up this next year; that will be your savings goal. I have printable charts to help you save $500, $750, $1000, $1500, or $2000. Print the one you want (you’ll find the links to download each chart at the end of the post in a blue box).
Add The Amount Listed Each Week
Start saving during the first week of January. On the chart you’ll see a number telling you what week you are on and the amount you should save that week. You’ll also see a running total which tells you how much you have. There’s a blank where you can write the date when you add money and keep track of your total (which will match the total listed if you haven’t missed any weeks). If you’re starting later than the first week in January, you can catch up by starting with the total for the week it is now.
If you want to keep your holiday savings in cash, get a large envelope and tape the chart to the outside of it, then store the cash in it. Be sure to keep it in a safe place. If you’d like to save the money in the bank, ask your bank to set up a separate savings account for you and then transfer the designated amount each week.
Enjoy Stress Free Shopping by Black Friday
All of these charts reflect a 46 week Christmas savings challenge, so if you start working on this savings challenge at the beginning of January, you will hit you goal savings amount by the third week of November, just in time to start shopping during Black Friday sales.
Save Money to Donate!
Christmas is a great time of year to share what we have with others. It’s especially meaningful to get your kids involved in giving to others. Consider using one chart to save for your own Christmas spending, and another one to save money to share! Family members – including the kids – could take turns contributing or doing chores to earn the money that goes into the “sharing” envelope.
