In today’s post: This adorable sunflower cheese board is so simple to put together and will look great at any spring or summer party!
Fancy charcuterie boards have been popular for a few years – and they are beautiful! But also pretty intimidating to put together. Today’s project is a super easy, simple version of a fruit and cheese board that anyone can make. Shaped like a sunflower, this board is both adorable and delicious, and it’s going to look great at your next summer party.
Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make a sunflower cheese board:
- Blueberries: Approximately one pint of blueberries, often sold in an 11 oz package.
- Blackberries: Approximately one cup of blackberries, often sold in a 6 oz package.
- Sugar Snap Peas: Approximately 20 peas.
- Ritz Crackers: Approximately one sleeve of crackers
- Cheese Slices: I used “cracker cuts” cheese that is already sliced into squares, and I used most of a 10 oz package. I used gouda cheese because it was similar in color to the Ritz crackers.
I built the sunflower on an 11 inch plate, which was then placed on a 18 inch round board so there is room to add a stem.
Place the Fruit
Begin by washing the berries and the peas, then dry them completely. You’ll build the sunflower on a round plate (the one I used is 11 inches in diameter). Invert a 4-inch bowl in the center of the plate. Place blackberries around the edge of the bowl to create a circle.
Carefully remove the bowl. Pour blueberries into the center of the blackberry circle, mounding them up.
Add the Cheese
Next, start layering the cheese at an angle around the outside edge of the plate.
Continue adding cheese slices, overlapping them, until you’ve completely covered the outside edge of the plate.
Add Crackers
Next, add crackers on top of the cheese, touching the circle of blackberries.
Create a stem
Place the sunflower on a larger round board (approximately 18 inches) and move it toward the top of the board. Then use sugar snap peas to create a stem for the sunflower.
