It’s hard to believe, but it’s June. June! Time, as usual, is flying by. We are settling into our summer routine around here and looking forward to all the fun summer brings: campouts and afternoons at the pool and BBQ’s and fireworks. And, of course, the 4th of July!

Fourth of July candy is showing up in the stores, and so my kids and I had fun making these red, white and blue Oreo pops last week. They’re the perfect easy treat for your July Fourth BBQ or picnic!

All you need is red, white and blue candy melts, Oreos, and sucker sticks. We made swirled Oreo pops, but you could also make solid colored ones or add sprinkles.

I find that Double Stuffed Oreos work better for making Oreo pops. I start by melting the candy melts as directed on the package. Then I open up each Oreo, dip a sucker stick in white melted candy, and sandwich the stick inside an Oreo. This helps “glue” the Oreo together so it won’t fall apart when you try to dip the entire thing.

Once I have the pops put together I stick them in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden. Then it’s time to dip!

Here’s how we made swirled red, white, and blue Oreo pops:

1 – Dip an Oreo pop in white candy melts. 2 – Shake off excess candy. 3 – Place Oreo pop down on wax paper. 4 – Pour on some red and blue candy melt. 5 – Use a toothpick to swirl colors, adding a little more white if needed. Try not to swirl too much, as the colors will eventually mix and start to look purple. 6 – Allow to harden completely before removing from wax paper (15-20 minutes).

I also dipped a few Oreos in red or blue candy melts. When they hardened I put some of the white candy melt in a ziplock bag, then clipped off the corner and “piped” the white candy out.

Hey, glad you’re here!
