In today’s post: Fruit cup Valentine’s are a healthier alternative to candy! Perfect for classroom Valentine exchanges.
I still remember Valentine’s day when I was a kid – how much fun it was to go home and look through my bag of Valentines. I loved reading all the cards and I really loved piling up all my candy. It was special because we didn’t get treats from school very often.
These days it seems like my kids get treats at school a couple of times a week! Between rewards from teachers and birthday celebrations, there is a LOT of candy coming home. I like candy as much as the next girl, but I also think it’s nice when people consider healthier “treat” options such as fruit (or no-treat options like heart shaped straws or small toys).
This year I’ve made some cute tags to go along with fruit cups for a healthier Valentine for kids. I checked with my two elementary school kids and they both agreed they’d be happy to get applesauce or a cup of oranges for a Valentine’s Day treat from friends or a teacher.
I know, fruit might not be as exciting as a Twinkie, but as a mom I feel a little better about it!
Fruit Cup Valentines for Kids
I made 5 different printable tags for these fruit cup Valentines:
The tags are circle shaped so they will fit right on top of an applesauce or fruit cup. You can cut them out by hand, but if you’re doing enough for an entire classroom a circle cutter will make your life easier! (If you don’t have one, check with a friend who likes to scrapbook!)
Just download the pdf you’d like to use and print it out on cardstock at 100% or full size.
