Today’s post highlights 21 fantastic homemade blanket tutorials that you can make – some of them take less than an hour!
How to Make a Fleece Blanket
If you’ve never made a blanket before, a fleece blanket is a great place to start. Fleece is warm and snuggly and if you watch for sales you can purchase fleece for just a few dollars a yard. Fleece is an easy fabric to sew with, and it doesn’t fray, so you don’t have to finish the edges. That means some of these homemade fleece blankets don’t even require sewing. Fleece is a wider width fabric (60 in), so you can make a throw size blanket with just one piece of fleece (1.5 yards for a 48×60 inch throw or 2 yards for a 60×72 inch throw). How to Make Flannel Blankets
Flannel is another wonderful fabric to work with when you are making a blanket. Flannel is available in a wide variety of gorgeous prints and patterns and is an easy fabric to sew with. It’s soft and sturdy, making it a great option to use whether you want an indoor or an outdoor blanket. The tutorials below give you a number of options for making flannel blankets.

These DIY blankets are easier to make than a classic knit blanket so they are perfect for beginners! And because they generally use chunkier yarn, there are fewer overall stitches, so you can learn how to make one of these blankets in no time.
Baby Blankets
Another great option for your first homemade blanket is a baby blanket. Baby blankets are smaller in size than standard throw blankets, meaning they will take less time to make and fewer supplies.
